An AI assistant I'm building for Dickinson College that answers Dickinson-specific student questions, powered by scraping pipelines that turn scattered campus web pages into structured data.
Overview
Benny is an AI-powered chatbot that answers Dickinson-specific student questions. I’m building it with a student team as an AI Software Developer with Devil Labs at Dickinson College.
Problem
General-purpose chatbots don’t know the details of a specific campus, so they give vague or wrong answers about things like offices, services, and policies. Students need answers grounded in their own college’s information.
What I’m Building
- Scraping pipelines that collect and structure Dickinson-specific data
- An NLP-powered chatbot that draws on that structured data to give accurate, campus-specific answers
What I’ve Learned So Far
How much of a chatbot’s usefulness comes from the data behind it: clean, well-structured source data matters as much as the model.
