Overview
For my senior seminar at Dickinson (COMP 491/492), I’m part of a four-person team contributing to Zulip, a large open-source team chat platform built with Python and Django.
Where It Stands
- Set up the Zulip development environment
- Studying the codebase and the project’s contribution guide
- Choosing issues to work on through Zulip’s issue tracker and code review process
I’ll update this page with links to pull requests as they’re merged.
Why It Matters
Working in a large, established codebase with real maintainers is a different skill from building projects from scratch: reading unfamiliar code, following a project’s conventions, and getting changes through review.
